Development Process
Using the design thinking model as a reference, four interested organisations were selected at the end of a public sharing to join us on a five-month journey of discovery.
The journey that each organisation took to develop their prototypes were based on the design thinking process. During the duration of the project, design and mental health coaches were also assigned to each team.
Before the commencement of the project, the participating organisations had conversations with the design coaches. After the conversations took place, all four organisations went through a three-part workshop at the beginning, middle and end of the five-month period.
Kick-off Workshop
The first part of the workshop was designed as the “Kick-off Session'', where the participating organisations came together to share the issues they faced and find out if they shared any similarities. The first session was designed to help the organisations and designers see that they are the ones leading the project while Common Ground, Studio Dojo, the mental health coaches and design coaches are there to support their outcomes.
Midpoint check-in
The second part of the workshop was the “Ideation Session”, where organisations spent two days sharing their team’s definition of the issues that they identified in the first session. This part of the workshop served as a check in for the participating teams while they moved toward the final phase. It also served as an opportunity for them to present their projects’ progress to the other teams to get fresh perspectives on it. The participants were also invited to pick between two workshops discussing “What makes a good insight?” and “Using the levels of the system to analyse our insights” to attend so as to assist them in their sense-making process.
Closing Workshop
The last workshop was designed to be a sharing session, where organisations convened back to share their prototyped solutions and initiatives with each other. At the end of the workshop, the participating organisations reflected on their individual growth and journey, and celebrated accomplishments, friendships and connections. Following the project closing, the organisations moved on and attempted to implement their proposed prototyped initiatives in 2022.
